Precipice

Whether to agree or not.
To spend a wasting of debating,
How it is we must all...
Must step to cross over,
An unprecedented threshold.
That neither guarantees,
A painless entry to the other side of it.
Nor a promise of regret,
To live a past to have had addictions.
Permitting many to believe,
Their normal divisive lives...
Would be much too sad to grieve.
For them to turn their backs upon!

'You mean up and leave?'

However...
Living lives too familiar,
With uncertainty and distrust.
To then be tormented,
By deceivers loving to corrupt...
Values and standards crushed to dust.
While accepting the quality of life,
Being diminished to witness...
Many attempting,
A polishing up over...
What has begun to expose,
Signs of collapsing rust!

'This we prefer to call,
Rejuvenating.
With a slight noticeable touch,
Of a recurring renovation.
You will love it.'

We, the people, today face crossing,
Over a threshold...
Of a much needed change.
Whether to agree or not,
That time to await for more of it to come.
Can not be identified by anyone,
With the convincing ability to prove...
Whatever that time is left,
Will leave everyone...
Inhaling to exhale easier.
Feeling the freedom to that done!

'Finally and with much hesitation,
Some of us have crossed that threshold.
Although...
We are in need of a back up crew.'
And exhausted,
Have become...
Our thoughts about this too!'

'Exhausted?
A back up crew?
For what reason and why?'

'MANY have been awaiting,
Anticipating this change for so long.
They were holding their breath.
To have passed out.
After crossing the threshold.
To let that breath out.
Leaving us limited,
Of the ones experienced...
In giving mouth to mouth resuscitation!'

'Tell me you are joking.
Mouth to mouth resuscitation?
Slap to snap them back to consciousness.'

'I can tell you that thus we will try.
But several of these people...
You may know personally.
And they look as if,
The excitement may them die.'

'Come on.
What church talkin' 'bout Willis?
Personally?
Like who?'

'Well...
One I recognized,
Had been your ex-lover.
And the other...
Happens to be,
Your first wife's divorce lawyer.'

'Stop.
In the name of love this nonsense.'

'So...
What should we do?'

'Pretend to have amnesia?'

'I am serious.'

'And...
I am not?
Oh how I wish,
I could slapped them both...
Back into consciousness.
But...
Okay.
I'll come to help you.'

'When?'

'Hmmm...let's see.
In about two weeks?'

'They may be dead by then.'

'Gee.
Make that three weeks.
I want proof I will not be disappointed!'

'What a terrible thing to say.'

'I know.
Tell me about it.
I am already feeling remorseful.
Whew...
What a relief.
That didn't last as long as I expected.'

'What should I do?'

'Pucker up those lips.
But try not to get involved.
I knew them both to be deceivers!'

'What?'

'I'm just saying they could have been!'
