In The Court of Solace

Let’s go see the Solace King
who sits in royal splendor
let’s steal into his regal court
and meet that master-mender

To his right stands a visage fair
wrapped in her golden fleece
her eyes placid as warm spring rains
our august Ducchess of Peace

His left is inhabited
by a court-bard of glibness
he’s the gift you give yourself
the Prince they name Forgivevess

Over flits a cherubim
raining arrows from above
tiny but his darts are balm
he’s the one that we name Love

lying at the throne’s bright base
a languid and lounging guest
she sings a low song sweetly
the perfect Princess of Rest

leaning close to lady Peace
to whisper in her ear
a strapping swordsman most skilled
the Destroyer of Our Fears

A dowager most aged
bright discernment on her brow
the Elder Queen of Wisdom
you may seek her counsel now

Now late into the great hall
with no care for chronology
the necessary evil
he’s called Count Apology

A lady known to be sweet
never showing resentment
she’s dressed in no royal garb
Our Lady of Contentment

In runs the little Princess
being pursued by a boy
her giggles cause all to smile
I present to you Miss Joy

her young and bold pursuer
is often known to lurk
among the solace-seekers
the well-loved Princeling of Work

“Grand to see you here at court
you two seekers of the flame
that burns away earthly pain
and rids your spirits of shame.”

“My Lord, that you would let us
learn from your court and kinder
such Solace as we may gain
all conflicts then would end here.”

“Stay in my court until you
both forget pained expression
hear our ancient dialogue
let Healing be the lesson.”
