There Will Be A Time
Yes, this is true.
There will be a time when you will reach out to caress my soft glowing skin but,
I will not be there.
Once you are finished cooking,
I will not compliment you on how much the garlic goes well with it.
When your hair is knotted, who will brush it out?
Who will look up a thousand YouTube videos to learn how to braid your hair?
After your shower,
There will not be a warm towel fresh out the dryer with a fresh pair of socks, t-shirt, and shorts.
After you finish drawing something that was in your head, I will not be able to tell you how bad ass it is.
When you get that last kill on your game,
I won't give you a warm smile along with a high five.
I will not be there to talk to you in my cute small voice.
Outside you will sit looking up at the moon but as the stars shine bright,
you will look to your side and notice that I am missing.
Your heart will ache.
Walks will pain you.
Who will hold your hand?
Watching movies will make you feel empty.
Not as empty as the bed will be.
My side will begin to lose the sweet scent of a thousand wishes.
My stuffed animals will be just there without me behind them hugging them so tightly.
No more will you be able to hear my adorable giggles, dumb jokes, watch me be emotional over everything, game with me, see me dancing when I am happy, random play fights, being loud for no reason, those kisses, the cuddles, and no more will you be able to hear my heart beating.
I will be long gone.
Then what would you do?
How will you cope?
Know that I will forever and ever be in your heart even though I won't be able to be in your arms.
I am in the night sky dancing with the stars.
I am also in the day sky laying in the clouds.
That stray cat who always follows you, it is me.
I am here.
Always.
About this poem
I wrote this today after a great day at work. This poem is about if one day I die. I know people will miss me. Sometimes we take the people we love for granted. So, as I'm typing this, please go call your loved ones or go hug them! Don't let something small ruin a relationship. You never know, you never know.
