She Cried

She stood in the doorway and she cried and she cried,
Her soul so broken,
her pain impossible to hide.
I reached for her hand as I touched her face,
And I wrapped my arms around her for a long, loving embrace.
I looked in her eyes,
they appeared empty at best,
And I wondered what had come to bring such an unrest.
We stood for a while, my hope to convey
An understanding of love, in an unconditional way.
Then she reached for my hand and she touched my face,
A memory my heart could never erase……..
It was a gathering so heartfelt, pain no one could hide,
And I stood in the doorway and I cried and I cried.
