Memories

While it's true, we all have memories, have you ever wondered why‐
Some memories are like a breeze, but some others just won't die‐

There's memories of good times, and some that weren't so good ‐
Memories of the times we've fell, and off the times we've stood

Some memories can make our heart race ‐ with the freedom of the sky ‐
Some can make us laughwhile others make us cry ‐

And it seems we can't pick and choose the ones we want to keep ‐
They're tucked away inside our mind where memories run deep‐

And we all have special memories, ones that we hold dear ‐
Of a special person, place, or event ‐ that made us laugh or eased our fear‐

And I have a special memory of a person that I knew ‐
Who loved me unconditionally and cared about the things I'd do ‐

This special person was my mother, and though her body's gone ‐
Her spirits with me always ‐ like the words of a lingering song ‐

And like a song, she'll live forever‐ locked away in my memory
Her smiling face, her easy grace ‐ and her spirit that's now set free‐

And like a song that has an ending ‐ but we sing again and again
Or a story that we read and re‐read ‐ even tho we know the end ‐

Her memory is no less beautiful ‐ even `tho now she is gone ‐
She's now listening and waiting ‐ with the angels, in her eternal home ‐
