My Shadowed Muse

She’s got diamonds in her eyes,
she glistens and shines.

Poetry is her name.
She brings me poetic inspiration,
ideas abound as the moon smiles
upon the night, my heart swoons
with gay poetic delight.

In the depths of my lonely nights
we fly together and I forget I am alone.

Through the night, I don’t need the light
for she shines for me.

Like a candle in the window,
she’s the stars to my sky’s.

We travel far and wide on the wings
of my imagination, we fly like
smoke upon the night air,
on strings of poetry, we are free.

Poetry follows me everywhere, like a shadowed muse.
