Mom

Last night on my terrace, i contemplated in depth.
Whom to call when the anxiety crept!

Who would be there if I did no right
Who would be the one to make my dark times bright?

Who would listen to my rants endlessly
Have my back, confide in me selflessly

Would it be a friend whom I know from childhood
Would it be the people who said they truly understood

Would it be the aunt who assured me would be there in distress
Or the acquaintances who asked me to fearlessly confess?

Who would be the one to trust when I’d be scared
how would i know if someone really cared?

Would it be the classmates during my degree days
Or the fellows who promised to be there always?

Will they be aloof or will they be gentle?
What if they come out be to be all judgemental?

I went through the phone to get the clue
The endless contacts, the screen so blue

Found the old ones while some were new
But spotted no one whom I could go to.

Finally gave up, there was no one to inform
Just then the phone rang & the screen read “mom”.
