Remembering When Young

Remember when we were young.
Smoking herb.
Long before it was legally done.
And some things we did and said,
Had been quickly fantasized.
To believe them forever to stay in our heads.
With promises made.

'Of course.
I remember those days.'

'Remember I promised to always be honest?
And to you I would never lie?'

'Of course.
I remember those days, why?'

'And...
Both of us decided,
To sober up and clear our minds.
Leaving behind,
All that we then fantasized?'

'I sure do.'

'Well...
That forever togetherness,
Has seem to have left to fade years ago.
And that part in our vows,
To commit forever to stay together.
Through thick and thin.
Until death do us part?'

'Oh, yes.
And,
I have a confession to make as well.'

'I do too.
But...
You go first with yours.'

'That was the same thing,
I had hoped you would do.
But awaiting for that time to come,
Seems forever to witness it done!'

'And...
What is that suppose to mean?'

'These days?
I wish I had not stopped smoking weed.'

'Well...
I didn't stop.
I lied when I said,
I was going out to the store to shop.'

'To smoke weed?'

'Of course.
Since it has been legalized.
I can go anywhere to fantasize.'

'Why?
Why would you like to me like that?'

'I was hoping,
Something I kept to fantasized...
By now...
Would be realized.'

'Oh?
Like what?'

'Today,
It makes no difference to explain.
And...
If you notice,
Whenever you start complaining...
I leave to go out.
To come back and ask,
Why are you still here!'

'I thought you were happy to see me.'

'I was.
To believe you had fallen to sleep.
To realize it wasn't deep enough.'

'I don't know how I should take that.'

'Of course you don't.
You're the one who remains sober.
And my expectations?
Seem to remain too high!
And too late to divorce,
Or separate from them.'

'And, I'm suppose to think that's funny?'

'That depends.'

'On what?'

'If you are blessed to have the last laugh!'

'What has happened to us?'

'An attempt to recapture,
What use to stiffen quick from a limp.'

'And what now sags.
From to top to the bottom.
Day and night as if packed with bags.'

'Okay!
You win.'

'Am I laughing?'
