Withering With You

Roaming through the college campus, Bunking classes and having fun time with my friends,
And between all those chaos of laughter and shouts you just had to get my attention!

Back in time I should've reported you for your felony, for stumbling into me out of all the boys, And to dare take my breath away at just one glance!
But all of that went down the drain the second we started swearing at each other that would make even the sailors blush,

And eventually teasing and pranking each other to death, ohh the pettiness we had I swear!
You see that my Love? We were already bickering like an old married couple.

Back then you were a little mischievous munchkin you know that? Always teasing and annoying the hell out of me!
You literally had the charm to make the toughest of manly hunks blush their cheeks out, what was I even in front of them!!?

I always loved the days when we would visit the tea stall right after our college!Rejoicing ourselves having those hilarious conversations and spending the whole evening drinking tea with our friends.

Even then my whole attention would be towards you, the way you laughed, the way you would get irritated when the wind caressed your hair, the way you would sip your tea and would avoid drinking the bottom part just because it tasted a little bitter, God I sound so obsessed!

Never knew your delinquent little self would have somehow weaved its way right into my silly heart,

Never knew when or how I turned into a lovesick fool who just enjoyed spending time with you and only you!

Never knew being in love with you would be so euphoric, so consuming..

I often wondered if you were real or just a figment of my imagination, for just one touch of reality and all those beautiful moments would come crashing down,
So I asked myself to tread on these emotions cautiously, for never had I found myself feeling at serenity the way my mind now finds solace in your presence.

You became the reason for my restlessness, the reason for my peace and the reason for my craziness.
I've started walking on the path of love and devotion and with every step forward I'm getting close to my destination which is you,

In this journey do you promise to hold my hand forever like I have held yours.

My wishes were answered the day you held my hand and we completed the ritual of seven vows walking around the holy pyre as the witness of our promises of CARE, PROTECTION, PROSPERITY, RESPONSIBILITY, SUPPORT, COMMITMENT and being there for each other until DEATH do us part.

Eventually Life made us go through all those turmoils, arguments, challenges, disappointments, surprises, and then atlast came those days of love and happiness,

Together we aged beautifully, sharing our silly old days and memories of love and confessions with our children.

Closing my eyes and reminiscing everything until now, all I could think was "what more could I ask to God for?"!
But then there's always that saying,

Every beautiful thing has an end to it and just like that, the hand that once promised to never let me go, that was once meant to hold mine forever, slipped and strayed away living me hopeless and hollow.

Bereaved and desolate, sitting amidst the ruins of our once joyous memories, Will I ever be released from this labyrinth of solitariness?

Are you even aware of the void that has been created in my heart and life, but you'll come back to me before it consumes me whole, won't you?

I was yours and you were mine, You promised that we were forever, didn't you?

But all that's left is me and the flashbacks of our memories We need each other, I'll always need you, just you!

Walking away from me, from our eternal love is not an option, for my soul has lived in your arms and will wither away right into them.

About this poem

This poem is about all those happy, joyous, mischievous memories made in college with our friends and along with them are those moments of first love and crushes on each other. Inked down are those pure emotions that one would always want to relive them and experience those days of youth again and again.

I love writing poetry. It's feels amazing to play with words, to create beautiful lines and quotes, and when you put them together, you get your own little masterpiece. Writing poems is kind of my ticket to freedom, I can convey my thoughts without any judgements or interruptions and all that remains is just perfection. more…
