I once had a life
At such a tender age,
I held him with so high an esteem,
So close to him I never felt the steam,
The list in his eyes for me,
The urge to rip,
He was so fast as the wind
My pulse racing,
My body trembling,
I screamed till my voice went dim.
Just like the light
At the far end of Kofi's store.
My dreams became my plight
I saw my dreams hault.
I regretted,it wasn't my fault,
Oh uncle!
How could you condesend so low to an act of rape I'd call promiscuity?
Oh uncle!
How could you disrespect your grey hair and be caught in infidelity?
You have brought shame upon your conscience in an act so absurd as adultery!
Trying to hide your shame,
And protect your fame,
You destroyed my life
In my vulnerability
You took my pride away,
You gave me some dollars,
You stabbed me with a dagger,
In my quest for greener pastures,I found death.
My dreams and aspirations all gone down with the dirt like a hole in the ground never to see the light of day because uncle killed me.
Now my spirit has no home
I am lost,
A wandering soul in the land I now spite,
I am shattered,
In the scorching sun that feels weak,
In the rain I do not feel,
In the thirst that never cease,
My vengeful spirit will forever live and demolish all obstacles that dares to take you off my grip!
Till you become a human without a soul,
Till you become a shattered glass.
About this poem
This poem is about a girl in her prime that was abused by her uncle and murdered to keep the act a secret till eternity and it is my way of expressing disgust to rape and murder especially between uncles and neices, aunts and nephews. I speak for all who do not have a voice and I hope you all can relate
