It Is Better

It is better to read an old book that’s true
Than to be filled with lies from all of the new

It is better to write a new book that's true
Than to rely on the things that other men taught you

It is better to say what you mean and then do it
Than to say what you think and then try to pursue it

It is better to listen to Jesus, who’s your friend
Than to look back and see that you wrote your own end

It is better to know that your hope is now sure
Than to depend on your riches and wealth try to store

I say to my friends: If the Lord is willing
But most don’t understand and take part in the killing
