If I had a Time Machine to see my younger self…

If i had a time machine
to see my younger self
I know that little me would wonder how current me felt,
and wonder what i do all day,
and places i have gone?
i do recall that little me would stay up,
night till dawn

id tell her its important to be sure to get some rest
id tell her after meals, to clean her crumbs to avoid pests
like present me, she'd eat a lot, an effort to avoid stress

she was a sensitive kid and therefore hated being tested
or undermined or ignored
she hated being out-bested

id mention that when time's invested, it's both achievement and reward
and that trophies are not necessary, just objects people hoard
and badges are awards as well, "be proud of them," id say,
and then id get into my zone, it's when i talk a lot...
id hold her hand and walk with her
and take her to our spot

a lighthouse we would play in
ever since we were a kid
its only fitting that i tell her here, all that ive learned and did

Now that im grown(er) my days consist of a mellow regime
i try new things daily but i have a set-in-stone routine
however, i’ve lived longer than her, so i have advice
id say to her, wholeheartedly and in a voice that's nice:
"wrecki, don't be cold as ice, be friendly and be kind
and make sure not to get attached to everything you find
and remember that not everything found is something to be kept
and not everything that goes away is something to be wept (over)

these are things that current me is learning every day
i surely hope that sharing these thoughts helps you in some way
i love you, me. you're full of life.
you're only just a child
I'd tell her, recall what ive said, pray often, and run wild.

if only i had a time machine to tell her how ive felt
i love you, me.
If i could read this to you, i would melt
