Gemstone

She spent her life wanting to be loved,
But afraid of push coming to shove,
She had convinced herself that she wasn't enough,
She convinced herself that she had to be tough,
But he wasn't convinced,
She was none the wise,
He loved her so much,
But to tell her, He would rather die,
Because he'd been lied to all of his life,
Thus safer a lie,
Than to be patronized,
So he buried his feelings,
Where no one could find,
In writing, a Poem,
Or something that rhymes,
To put on a sort of Artistic disguise,
No one will ever know,
Of whom he writes,
Which then allowed for a comforting sigh,

About this poem

This poem is an expression of Love, but a fear of loss. The writer is in love with someone but just can't follow through with it. It's not reciprocated. The person he loves, they do not feel the same. It has happened to him enough to know nothing good will come of it.. Like a Bad dream one cant forget. He carefully and artistically chronicles his suffering in a way others may relate. Perhaps in an attempt to not feel so alone..
