A cruel Master
Ohhh time, you are so cruel to man.
You take away his loved ones, his youthful vigor and ultimately life itself.
You are so fleeting.
And yet seem to move at an agonizingly slow pace.
Yet you can never be chased down.
Man is ever relient on your ticking.
Tik-tok-tik-tok.
He tries to hold onto his cherished memories and beliefs for as long as he can.
But eventually, you take it all away from him.
like a thief who robs a blind man.
You are a ride in which they are all fighting to be the drivers, yet none has ever succeeded.
And no matter how hard he tries to turn you into an ally, you never truly stop for him.
A cruel and invincible master to man.
About this poem
This poem sprouted from a morning thought about how someone out there is having their last breakfast and they don’t know it. Time forever marches forward it doesn’t bend to our feelings, needs or wants.
