Knights of Blue

In this society blinded by hate.
 Violated by streets of mayhem
 and vigilante justice.

There is no shortage to what goes
on when you open the door.
Violence never seizes.
Crime doesn't have a day off.

Sirens blazing, a moment of peace
fractured by utter chaos.
No room for meta humans or hooded
superheroes.

Corrupted and distorted by greed,
anger, power and unwilling to
reason. A one-sided system that
still has to have some sort of
purpose and of law.

Put all worries aside and put on
that vest. Leave your fears at the
door. Carry the hopes of those
seek protection. Shelter those
that need justice.

To sleep soundly at night. Putting
these brave souls their own lives
on the front line.
Starring at the grim reapers face.
These Knights of Blue.

Having no clue what awaits through
that black box. Nerves in a knot
an uneased mind.
Blood turns to cold.
The sense of lossing control.
Starring down the end of barrel of a
gun.

Knights of Blue.
Knights of courage.

I pray for you and for those that
don't understand. What it is to lose
everything in a single heart beat.

Knights of Blue in this uncertain
time. Sharpen your sword and get
on that iron horse. Keep those
streets safe and may you come home.
When you put that shield down.

About this poem

I wrote this paying tribute to the men and women who risk their lives each day to making a difference and keep us safe. Being in a family that a third a half have been in law enforcement. I know it's not easy task. To me it is a title not everyone can do.
