1883. Pioneer wagon train…

They had set out from the East

Wagon train ill gathered

Emigrants from Europe.

Dreaming of Montana, meadows.

Free land for the working.

Leadership fell to Shea.

Haunted Union Army officer.

Widowed by the cholera.

Soon joined in performance, planning

By a Father with gritty spouse.

Beautiful kids.

His Elsa* commands the narrative.

Cowgirl. Young woman.

Young Lover.

Lone in glorious wilderness.

Crossing rivers of drowning.

Terrified by tornado.

Riding, racing with red-skinned Lad

And Warrior.

Fighting marauders.

Killing. Grieving.

Ultimately departing from

Her Father’s arms.

Neath a tree

That will be

Yellowstone Ranch.
