My Love, I Killed Us

My love, I killed us
When you were asleep I single handly took the weapon and stabbed you
I took my vows I promised and reversed the meaning

My love, I killed us
I repeated this three times
All three times I repetitively stabbed you in the back knowingly
My love I killed us

I let out a sigh and said these words had a million ways to that could make you hate me
I tried to ignore but never did those 5 words not come back to me
They cursed me from the day a spread I opened the closet to grab my side of things

My love, I killed us
I repeated this three times
All three times I repetitively stabbed you in the back knowingly
My love I killed us

I let out the tears and drew the words I wanted you to hate me for
Not they way I had actually made you unlove me
I couldn't I wouldn't let you love a man I despised
The words that were truly meant to be written I couldn't live with you seeing.

My love, I killed us
I repeated this three times
All three times I repetitively stabbed you in the back knowingly
My love I killed us
And I'm so sorry

About this poem

In a nutshell, this poem is about infidelity from the perspective of a man who claims that he destroyed them (the relationship or marriage) by tearing it apart, especially for his wife because she might not necessarily find out. However, he is aware that if she finds out, he won't be able to live with himself. As a result, he will simply give her an explanation and hope that she will resent him for it rather than for what he actually did. Because he feels so bad and chooses to make the decision for her, he just doesn't want to see her suffering for the actual reasoning. He knows he made a huge mistake.
