The Sleeping Soldier

I dream the dream of the sleeping soldier.
One eye opened to the world
While the other looks on to eternity
Hands drenched in blood
Blood of the enemy
While I drink my own in tears
Fighting for the moral vow
Of righteous pursuit
An ever tiring journey
Across the world of insanity
In this world of skewed perception
Right and wrong collide
Resting head to soil
And facing the sky
Feet outstretched
Listening for the branch to break
But the beam of the moon is all that surrounds
For this is the line between the world and eternity
Which is held in the dreams of the sleeping soldier.
