Down by the Lighthouse

Down by the lighthouse, Seagulls blat,
Tan sand and concrete roads that are flat.
The terrible toddlers talk and they talk.
Young couples hold hands down by the boardwalk.

A figure so tall, Dressed red and white,
Its head dim at day but it glows in the night.
Fishermen coming back from the sea,
The moon glistening on the saphire sea.

She greets them as they come back to land,
The lighthouse has given its first command.

About this poem

I wrote this poem because it reminded me of the beach near my grandma's house in San Diego CA. We love visiting her and enjoying the hot summer days.
