Blame

Everybody needs someone to blame.
Night and day searching for the truth.
Their cries are chiming my name.
Are they angry or just scared little youths?

Maybe it's my fault for taking the mantle.
I'm uncertain of what lies ahead.
My heart grows heavy, is this too much to handle?
My self-esteem was shot dead.

Should I be to blame after trying?
For taking a role without understanding the consequences.
Living under constant pressure, they would say I'm lying.
This is what I get for taking down my defenses.

I understand, but being scared has made you blind to see.
Nonetheless, if you ever need someone to blame, put the blame on me.
