Uncommon Church Visit

Never before been here

But today it just clicks

Been having much trouble

And I hope Church might fix.

Tried it online before.

But community is lost.

Sitting in jammies

And having some toast.

Folks at the door

All smile, shaking

Hands too.

Seems like assembly

Line, pushing on through.

Shown to a middling bench.

Old Lady there.

Eyes seem all sparkling.

In Jesus’ care.

She catches name

Right quick.

Goes back to prayer.

Can’t hear the words

Uplifted; Heaven met there.

Seems like a proper place

Doffing my Load.

Comfort and confidence

Coming from God.

Folks are all fallible.

What’s new with that?

Some honest searching, yes

Uplift and chat.

Your poem beautifully portrays the experience of stepping into a new church, seeking solace and connection amidst troubles. The contrast between the online world and the physical church community is vividly depicted, emphasizing the warmth and human interaction that can be found in a traditional church setting. The imagery of people smiling, shaking hands, and the sense of belonging in the physical space creates a comforting atmosphere of acceptance and support. The encounter with the old lady exudes a sense of kindness and spiritual connection, highlighting the power of shared faith and prayer in fostering a sense of peace and upliftment. Your poem eloquently captures the essence of finding comfort, confidence, and a sense of belonging in a community that embraces both fallibility and genuine human connection.
