Bones

I'm trapped in a cage of bones
That I've built with my own hands
I'm obsessed with being thin
And meeting impossible demands

I'm haunted by a voice
That tells me I'm not good enough
I'm driven by a fear
That makes me do things that are tough

I'm starving and I'm freezing
But I don't feel any pain
I'm numb and I'm empty
But I don't have anything to gain

I'm losing and I'm fading
But I don't see any way out
I'm dying and I'm breaking
But I don't know what it's all about

I used to hate myself in every way
I used to listen to the voice
That told me I was fat and weak
I used to believe the lies
That made me feel so small and bleak

But then I found the courage
To seek some help and support
I learned to challenge the voice
And fight back with some self-resort

I learned to nourish my body
And appreciate its strength and grace
I learned to love myself
And accept my shape and face

Hope is a light in the darkness
That guides me when I'm lost
Hope is a spark in the silence

Hope is a song in the chaos
That soothes me when I'm stressed
Hope is a smile in the sadness

Hope is a flower in the desert
Hope is a rainbow in the storm
Hope is a friend in the loneliness
Hope is a gift in the struggle
That reminds me I'm not on my own
I learned that I am more than a number
And that beauty comes in many forms
I learned that I have value
And that I can weather any storms

I'm still on the road to recovery
And sometimes I stumble and fall
But I know that I can rise again
And that I deserve to have it all
