Potpourri in the Desert

My desert is a barren space
With sand quite hot and dry.
It often is a lonely place
Where clouds so rarely cry.

It has a small oasis where
A potpourri is found
With plants that thrive with daily care
And water underground.

I try to stay there when I can,
But getting there is hard,
And staying there means I must scan
All things to be on guard.
