You made me Father
It was exactly the mid of the seventh month of the year
the sun was playing hide-n-seek with the clouds
weather was neither hot nor cold, not even humid
monsoon had almost hit the royal city of Lucknow.
Yes, it was the morning of the fifteenth of July -
since last night I was having butterflies in my stomach
when and how the night flew past was outta my mind
as I was overwhelmingly waiting for the next day break
Today, I was gonna welcome my first baby into this real world
a lad who became man would set off to be a father now onward
I prayed to the God and crooned to gift me a doll, an Angel -
several thoughts were running on my mind about the new baby
my new born would be a shining star up in the sky
my bairn would be a true reflection of my soul
my first born would set an ideal example for the next
my tot would fill my house with laughers and giggles
my neonate would face no hurdle in life like I went through
my little kid would be nurtured in a place that I fortified
my infant would be an admiration for her peers and dears
my babe would teach a lesson of love & care to all
I was fervidly waiting out of the labour room with such action and reaction
clock put my anxiety at a high ebb as no news was spilling out of the ward
clouds were looming all over the sky frequently changing their colour & pattern
and, a soft whisper of morning breeze with the dew of drizzle was patting my face
The time was ticking at its pace like any other day,
My feeling was similar to the day of declaration of result of my first board exam -
when I was anxiously waiting at the building of the press without eating or drinking.
God was looking from the top with patience at an impatient man
when the needles of the clock reached twenty eight past eight
my wait came to an end, a babbling sound hit my ears,
an uncanny smell surrounded me, an opaque glare shuttered my eyes;
and when my vision became clear, I was right in front of the God
the God winked and played a trick -
He opened the door of the heaven, picked one of His sweetest angels,
wrapped her in the finest satin, blessed her with the prettiest eyes,
the loveliest nose, the cutest mouth, the softest hands, and most melodious cry
A stork flew down from the heaven, and placed this bundle in my lap
Now, the God’s own angel was entrusted to me to take good care of
it was now my own angel in my arms, face-to-face and breast-to-breast
then a rarest event occurred, you know what? “she talked to me in her beautiful voice”
What I could decipher was that she was saying - Dad, your wait’s over, you’re now a Father
I lost words to explain those moments; my Angel - you got me promoted in real stack of life
My cutie pie you gave me a job now on, that each father would love to carry out for his baby
I was crying tears of joy and pledging myself to give the best of my best to my little Angel
