The Trip
The Trip
Back on the sand
Into the ocean off of the land
Cold water breaks my skin
Lying deep from far within
Night breaks into day
From a distance far away
An old friend and a new dawn
The nights are cold, the whiskeys warm
Memories follow me into the night
A subtle reminder of rising light
In tune with every note
The missing key the antidote
We looked up at the moon
If it’s not full, it will be soon
I heard a colour and saw a sound
Quite absurd yet so profound
I lit a match and looked away
Should I go or should I stay
Too lose control but hold the wheel
No problem, no big deal
Inside the cyclone I begin to fall
Into the clouds and off the wall
