Unattended Inspiration

Long time ago. under the darkest of skies.
There was a poet almost ready to die.
No home, no shelter didn’t worry him much,
But no audience to listen made him a sorrowful bunch.

He had many stories to tell,
But somehow he was under a spell.
The pen didn’t write what he wanted,
But the empty pages made him feel haunted.

The flame in his heart was long gone,
Now that his inspiration had left him alone.
So he wandered around without hope.
Ready to get possessed by the spirits to elope.

He fell to the ground, nearing oblivion,
And remembered the time when he was over the cloud.
But all remembered was not his writings,
But the girl’s sweet sightings.

A tear fell down along his cheeks,
Draining the sorrow that was bundled up in heaps.
He had made a name to fill up all the banner,
But forgot the one for whom he had built the manor.

He cursed the night when she died,
She didn’t even flinch how much ever he tried.
He felt paralyzed holding her in his arms,
Remembering the promise of bringing no harms.
He felt guilt for not forgetting her,
And even worse sorrow for being left after.
He knew that the poison was working,
But the memories of her were not shipping.

He prayed the skies to take him to her,
His breath was getting choked but his eyes didn’t stir.
Looking at her picture that he has drawn himself,
She looked beautiful smiling without help.

He missed the days that they had spent,
And he decide that he had to write to repent.
He gathered up all his strength,
To lift the pen & write till his last breath.

But all he could write was not enough,
However, the words that he wrote and all meaning engulfed.
He wrote the pending confession,
And finally lost all of his life’s possessions.
With a sigh he lost his remaining life,
Which was left after he lost his wife.

This is how a love story ended,
Because the love was left unattended.
