THE cage

Can we play pretend just a bit longer? Maybe you can hold me for a little bit longer until I'm feeling a bit stronger, at least, or until I no longer feel like this fucking beast that roams through the valleys of my mind occupying all of my time, for I am no longer so much of this tragedy that haunts me, please dear universe smile down on me.

I only want to play pretend a bit longer until I can step into the light and become my own best friend again. This is what I am fighting for. I feel the fire burn from within. The flame that fills the skies is the flame that colors my eyes. I know that I'm stronger than whatever it is that is trying to kill me give me the key to the thoughts of my cage that will set my mind free.
