BONES’ ETERNAL WHISPERS

In a realm of shadows, a tale unfolds,
Of a sack of bones, where a story's told,
No flesh or skin, just bones in a heap,
A solemn soul, eternal secrets to keep.

Within the sack, a history lies,
Of ancient days and starlit skies,
Once a vibrant form, now laid to rest,
A vessel of life, now a relic at best.

Beneath the moon's soft, silvery glow,
The sack of bones seems to hum and show,
The whispers of ages, the wisdom it holds,
In silence profound, its tale enfolds.

Within those bones, dreams take flight,
Memories dance in the pale moonlight,
Of laughter and love, of joy and pain,
A legacy etched in every fragile grain.

It witnessed battles, both fierce and brave,
And tasted tears on the crest of a wave,
The winds of time have weathered its frame,
Yet strength resides, an eternal flame.

In the quiet hours when darkness weaves,
The sack of bones tells stories of eves,
When hearts entwined and spirits soared,
Through triumphs and defeats, it roared.

Though life departed, its purpose unknown,
The sack of bones has never alone,
For in the depths of its hollow core,
Echoes of life reverberate forevermore.

Let us not forget the souls behind,
The fragile shells that once defined,
For in this sack of bones, we find,
A treasure trove of the human mind.

So as you wander through the night,
And witness stars in their cosmic flight,
Remember the tales the bones contain,
The essence of life that still remains.

About this poem

Nothing special about this poem. It was just something fun I did for my daughter during Halloween one year.

Tammie Swinehart

Not much to say. I live in a small town in Indianapolis and work full-time as a manager for an insurance company. I have written poems going back to grade school. They were all horrible, but fun and passed the time. I have journals of poems that go back 40 years. So now that I have more free time, I dig them out, clean them up while preserving the original thought and meaning behind them. more…
