We are so angry,
Look around.
In attacking each other,
We're losing common ground.
Look down deep,
Where hate doth thrive.
We're not just punishing the guilty,
We're taking innocent lives.
We've become so caught up,
In the here and now.
We've lost sight of our humanity,
Our moral ground.
Step back for but a moment,
See what we have become.
Yelling and pointing fingers,
While holding a gun.
Children watching,
Soaking it all in.
Teaching them to judge one another,
By religion or the color of their skin.
If we just opened our eyes,
Took but a moment to breathe.
We might yet change,
What it is they see.
A world united,
In equality.
