Starving Poetry

This is starving poetry,
   written `cause I'm famished.
I don't need filet mignon.
   I'm happy with a sandwich.
Writing just to advertise
   the skills that I possess.
Trying to attract the funds
with which I can attempt purchase.

It seems that just to buy some food
these days I must be rich,
Or popular on Instagram, or
   maybe YouTube or Twitch.
But I'm too much a loner.
Scarce few know what foods I eat.
And I'm not one to say much about
what foods I find a treat.

I won't often treat myself
   although I like the taste
Because I must control  the costs,
   and my expanding waist.
It's like I'm on a diet,
   but because of allergy,
I've learned that there's scarce little
food out there that's good for me.

I'm frustrated and tired,
   probably 'cause I'm hungry, and
Despite the fact that I see food,
I can't just go and eat.
So despite that I'm hungry
and there's food where 'er I see,
I'll have to vent my frustrations
   just writing poetry.

About this poem

This world is messed up. There's so much food that could be eaten. Yet some of it is arrogantly and foolishly destroyed, and much of the rest is collected around a select few where it gets half-eaten and discarded. Despite all of that, I'm not talking about food.
