Native Americans

For centuries, the Indians
Did not share land with anyone,
Because no other group was there
'Till sixteen hundred twenty-one.

That year, the Pilgrims thought they'd share
The land with natives unaware
If peace would be agreed upon
By natives since the land was theirs.

Despite the loss of land now gone,
The Indians thought they'd live on
In harmony with their new friends
Not knowing that all treaties drawn

Would not be honored in the end
And theey would all have to depend
On little, others would extend
And acceptance they'd pretend.
