Misunderstood

Today my heart is heavy
Even tho my minds made up

The pain behind my eyes and the embarrassment and regret I have from my trauma you chose to overlook

I thought you knew me like I knew you
Just like the beast and belle in the book
I thought I saw the you

I misunderstood your cruel words for care

I misunderstood your humiliation as jokes

I misunderstood your betrayal as something I provoked

I misunderstood the fantasy life you created, I believed was for us

I misunderstood your need for affection as love As I had nothing but trust

I now realize it was all a facade

I now realize you never really did have to try that hard

You met me when I was broken Before I knew who I was and all you did Was leave more mental scars and made me feel even more unloved

You used all my traumas To once again knock down my walls

So once again you could gain control and I would end up looking the fool

There is loads about me though you misunderstood the things about me that can’t be learned from reading a book the quality’s about me, you always so ignorantly overlooked All that makes me that you misunderstood

My heart
My compassion
My empathy
My loyalty
Most importantly
My strength to survive

It may not be today but one thing I know Is when I’m truly understood my heart will show I won’t need roses or gifts for show

And then u will be left the lonely misunderstood man All on your own
