Aging To Grow Older
You know.
The more I age to grow older.
I have learned how important it is,
Not to allow my mind to wander.
And listen to others.
With a doing to give,
My undivided attention.
'These days,
That to do for everyone is important.
Regardless how old people get.'
How old people get to do what?
That's so important.
'You were saying a moment ago.
"The more I age to grow older.
It's important to listen to others.
With a doing to give,
My undivided attention." '
So glad I am to hear that coming from you.
These days,
You young people seem to have no time...
To listen to anyone giving them good advice.
Advice to take and become wiser too.
Is good for the mind.
You'll be surprised how listening benefits.
'Wait a minute.
Hold on.
You said that.
I didn't.'
Okay.
Have it your way.
I'm accustomed to being disrespected.
I'm not going to argue with you.
I'm not the one.
In seconds you kids say one thing.
And before even a minute passes,
You want to accuse somebody else.
For something said,
I know,
With my ears wide open.
Heard you say.
"As you grow older.
How important it is,
For you to pay undivided attention to listen...
To others when they are speaking.
Deny it.
And don't be shaking your head,
Like I don't know what I'm talking about.
Trying to give me advice,
You should be taking yourself.
Listen to hear your words first.
Before and after they come out of your mouth.
'Oh...God!'
No. Don't you dare.
And another thing,
God had nothing to do...
To put those words in your head.
You kids are always calling on God.
To get involved with your nonsense!
'I'm sorry I even said anything to you.'
Well...
I accept your apology.
But the next time.
Know your mind to think is yours to do that.
You were blessed with one.
Use it.
'Yes, sir.
I will do my best.'
That's all I want to hear.
If you should live to get my age.
You will value more your ears.
Without assuming,
Older people like me...
Don't know what they are talking about.
Remember...
Being blessed to age and grow older,
Is a wonderful thing.
Not everybody experiences.
'I'll remember when I get older,
To keep those thoughts to myself.'
Whatever.
You kids are going to do what you do,
Anyhow.
Fool me once but you can't do that twice!
