My Star Burns No More

My life was brightened by your light,
I now sit in the darkness of the night;

Your love to me shown gleaming and sure,
Now I wait for you no more;

The deafening of time marches on for so long,
My eyes are blinded by the memory of your song;

My muse has left me in despair,
I now wait for my last breath of air;

I swirl in that black hole where no light escapes,
A star’s rebirth for whose light I shall wait.

My wife recently passed away and literature and poetry played a large role in her day-to-day life in the last few years. The photo attached was our wedding photo when we were young and full of energy. more…
