Chances Taken
I'm not trying to convince you.
Or have you believe,
All I want and need...
Is thoughts of mine with to share.
And to share our separate point of views.
If we should argue those views,
Let us both agree...
We are not in a competition.
To reveal who can speak more intelligently.
Let's come to agree,
That to do is for those who debate.
In a school or invited to give their opinions,
On political platforms.
With every word chosen is rehearsed.
And practiced to properly articulate.
I want us to be real and not fake to assume,
We're in some kind of competition.
To have one win and the other lose a race.
That stuff is childish.
How possibly can we come to admit,
Those days are gone to continue on acting...
We have yet become adults.
And prefer to stay little kids.
Can we at least take a chance to realize,
The paths we have chosen...
May seem different.
Yet actually they are not.
Since we both are doing,
What others seem unable.
Or purposely rather not.
Take a chance or risk...
To end up looking foolish.
But...
I don't want to remain ignorant.
Do you?
Nor do I want to leave feeling please,
Stupidity is your comfort zone.
And you would rather keep that unknown!
Although...
For how long do you believe,
You can keep that secret to yourself!
'Okay. Okay, okay, okay.
Let's start again.
But don't ask me about my religious beliefs.
My political affiliation.
Why me and my ex-wife decided to divorce.
My sexual preference.
Why you might see me,
Walking the streets at night.
Or who it was that picked me up.
And we sat in the car for hours.
Then I got out to walk again alone.
As long as you don't ask me,
Any personal questions.
I am open to have a meaningful conversation.
To share and learn more about you,
I don't know!'
'But...
Where is the honesty?'
'I already asked you,
Not to get personal.
How honest can I get?
Isn't that honest enough for you?
What do you want?
A tuna sandwich made,
Without lettuce, tomatoes or mayonnaise?'
