Danger Is Stalking

Hush, hush, little one,
Lay still in your nest.
Danger is stalking
On winds from the west.
If you are to live,
You must heed what I say,
The killer approaches,
And you are his prey.
I can protect you,
With secrets I've learned.
But you must pay attention,
There's no second turn.
Lay still in the shadows
Till the creature has passed.
He's stalking down wind,
Dont make a sound.
He won't hear you trembling
In your nest on the ground.
He mauls them and rips them,
And leaves them alive.
Though their hearts are still beating,
They never survive.
So listen to me,
And do what I say,
And you can pass this advice
To your babies someday.
