Dolphin’s Song

I want to sing the dolphin’s song
as we swim gently along
Riding the wondrous Gulf Stream
deliciously warm and azure blue -
Wouldn’t you?

I long to be a part of their pod
feel their heartbeats so strong
Fin to fin as we traverse the sea
all and all in complete harmony -
With me.

So happy to be immersed every day
gliding whichever way
The tides decide our traveling fate
jump up and down flop to and fro -
Let’s go!

I’d play in the frothy white caps
flip up high land on my back
Dive as deep as I could
shoot up high once again -
Happy grin.

At end of day when dark as night
water and sky merge in sweet delight
Within my pod of dolphin kind
I’d close my eyes and rest my mind -
No thought of humankind.

About this poem

While watching dolphins play in the waves off the bow of the little sailing vessel, this poem slipped into my mind.
