kings’ cake (epiphany)

the family of four, who lives above me
must have had kings’ cake after the meal
and the head of the family
must have become king of the family
he is trying to make a speech
I can hear him loud and clear
I wouldn’t mind if he would stop with it
for he sounds terribly to me

the family of five, who lives beside me
must have had kings’ cake after the meal
and the head of the family
must have become king of the family
he is trying to make a speech
I can hear him loud and clear
I wouldn’t mind if he would stop with it
for he sounds terribly to me

I’m family of one
I live in a block of flats
think, I must have a king’s cake
think, I must become king
think, I must bray out a speech
think, I must say in five seconds flat
“shut up, all you wanna-be kings
I don’t want to hear anything”

the family of six, who lives below me
must have had kings’ cake after the meal
and the head of the family
must have become king of the family
he is trying to make a speech
I can hear him loud and clear
I wouldn’t mind if he would stop with it
for he sounds terribly to me

I’m family of one
I live in a block of flats
now! I must have a king’s cake
now! I must become king
now! I must bray out a speech
now! I must say in five seconds flat
“shut up, all you wanna-be kings
I don’t want to hear anything”
