Afloat

Sinking
Deeper and deeper
I slowly drift to the bottom

Sinking
Disappearing into the darkness
As I except my fate

Sinking
No one around
My cries for help left unheard

Sinking
My lungs no longer in use
For my sorrow has drowned them

Sinking
Forever I lower
Into the ocean of despair

Sinking
Never to return
From the path I carved for myself

Sinking
Down I go
Not knowing if I want to return

Sinking
Depths only some reach
But only few reach the surface

Sinking
I found it
Rock bottom

Sinking
The stones hurt me
Digging into me as my body touched the floor

Sinking
Help me
I cried out in agony

Sinking
Just as my body goes limp
And my words stop flowing from my mouth

Sinking
My body starts to rise
Maybe this time I can stay afloat at the top

Sinking
Yet once again
My body gets heavy

Sinking
Now I realize
The stones placed at the bottom

Sinking
Will forever
Weigh me down

Sinking
I am forever stuck
Sinking and trying to stay afloat
