Fix My Life

Fix My Life

Fix my broken life, in one fell swoop today.
Roll its time arc in a box, leaving it to stay.
Constrain it by confining it, deterring all dismay.
Then to the board on which to draw, and back to youth to play.

There’s been no quell to its hell, and heaven had no face.
I’ve grown since to soothe the scars, still bitter is the taste
Of wounds residue, since memories were chaste.
Bless it back to innocence and leaven it with grace.

Withered and weary peace grew with an edge and stain.
My soul healed not, in time nor step, from the blessed to profane.
Symptoms may be reconciled, still illness finds refrain.
Failure mounts and strife surmounts and linger does the pain.

So, oust dark spells to recast new mysteries profound.
Open many doors anew as jest and play abound.
I’ll risk a new unknown from wisdom’s new insight,
Beginning with a lock-less box, where pinholes let in light.

About this poem

Our soul’s journey has shown us both joy and despair, that in retrospect seems to have delivered more gratuitously the more poignant over the joyous and pure. As time passes this can mar our memories and denigrate even the most sublime moments. Starting over from our youthful innocence, where we had a keener ear and eye for the Divine before we were led astray, could bring us new insights along the way.

I am an elementary school teacher by trade. I feel that being of service to others is one of the most joyous and meaning things one can do in their life. The challenges of that work environment, as well as the state of our world, our country and our communities, impel me to write. I therefore write for reconciliation, restoration, and revelation. Writing, for me is very powerful, because it calls me to be honest. Therefore it is one of the most meaningful things I can do. more…

It touched my heart in comparison of my own life. Having the courage to write in these words as they are, is amazing!
