For Leonor, A Tale of Kingdom's Quest

A few gentle knights tarried in the court
Who’d pledged to crusade at the king’s command.
When from afar came the darkened report
That one was vying for his daughter’s hand.

Such love had they for the young damsel’s name
That they each laid down their lives for her cause
As the forlorn knight was removed from blame
The king’s men assured him, ‘twere no faux pas.

Then it came to be, that they did rejoice
For them no greater treasure than her heart
Could ever be bestowed by solemn choice
Nor stolen by prowess of martial art.

Anon, and our princess will yet be Queen,
As destined in the grand empyrean.
