The Fall
He placed her on a pedestal
And fed her milk and honey
Gently clipped her wings
And showered her with money
She was his wife, he was her life
Until the day she fell
It wasn’t long before she found
The waiting arms of Hell
One mistake yet no reprove
He merely walked away
As silently she shed her tears
And stared out in dismay
The distance between love and loss
Is no more than a sigh
Easy come hello
And easy come goodbye.
About this poem
Love is powerful. It can be beautiful. It can be blind. But love can be unforgiving when one acts against the expectations of another. That line is thin, the one between love and hate. Quickly can be the passing from one side of feeling to the other.
