Illumination All May Seek

Jimmy Wayne Greenwood 1951 (Phoenix, Arizona)

May 24

In the mercado, she sells turquoise rings
Across the border from El Paso town
Yeah, old Juarez where no one knows her name

For back in Pecos, scandal did erupt
And so she fled the scene of all her tears
In the mercado, she sells turquoise rings

That dark eve on menudo they all supped
Where's sanctuary for their worst of fears ?
Yeah, old Juarez where no one knows her name

Foul demon summoned gunshots in the night
Such panic memories still haunt her mind
In the mercado, she sells turquoise rings

A dungeon or a grave holds fleeting light
Illumination all may seek to find
Yeah, old Juarez where no one knows her name

Sweet hope of harbor Mexico dear clings
Escaping far her families deep shame
In the mercado, she sells turquoise rings
Yeah, old Juarez where no one knows her name.
