Less Impressive

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Although creative their innovations,
In comparison to others.
Given interviews and high ratings received.
For performances mediocre.
But puts the audience at ease.
There are a few observed nodding heads.
From knowing what to expect next.
Anticipating the end to come.
Yet shakened awake before that is done.
Since their snoring to hear it,
Begins to attract everyone's attention.
Beyond the act performed on stage.

And in attendance are critics.
News reporters.
And professional gossips.
Smiling and approval to give.
To the same performances.
They remember when kids.

Although will admit amongst themselves,
Performances seen waayyy off Broadway.
Remains to stay on their minds.
Longer than the applause they gave,
To something familiar.
Yet wished the people...
Were mentally equipped.
And prepared to think.
Without songs to sing along,
From times long gone to go.

And those who perform,
Without attention to solicit...
Know their efforts endeavored,
Could be much better done.
However...
That time to waste,
Will not make their contributions made...
Thought to be greater.
Than the mediocrity people today,
Many appreciate more.
Since this makes it easier,
To relate to their growing old to age...
Outdated times with children.
Children made afraid to become adults!

And...
That's the way it is in 2024!
