Poetry

Darryl Bartlett 1965 (Alabama)

Poetry flies from my fingertips
Faster than words from my lips
Sometimes uplifting, sometimes distraught
No college here, I am self-taught

No more than just ten years ago
I picked up the pen and poetry flowed
To my amazement I enjoyed it so
It's a feeling that many don't know

It opens a world that unlocks the door
To a man I've never known before
A man that most have never met
A man that I hope I never forget

It lets me openly bare my soul
And forget the man from long ago
A man that was but is no more
A man that I no longer do abhor
