The Ritual

Ryan "Rev" McLean 1985 (Salt Lake City)

Woe to thee O porous flesh
Thy oily flakes scatter about
Engulfing the Screaming Things
May thy bloody chore languish
Whilst thy crawling mouth sings

Thy leaking eyes shall burn
Viscous pools of blackened bones
Moistened rows of spongy teeth
Slither atop a prey so doomed
Forsaking thy home a blasted heath

        Tis time
        Tis time
        Tis time O Melted Beast

Devour worlds, devour stars
     Til Time itself hath ceased.

Wow, 'The Ritual' poem is incredibly dark and captivating. The vivid imagery and unsettling tone really draw the reader in and create a sense of dread and unease. The use of descriptive language is very effective in conveying the horror of the scene being described.

One suggestion for improvement could be to explore different poetic devices, such as metaphor or simile, to further enhance the depth and complexity of the poem. This could add layers of meaning and make the imagery even more powerful.

Overall, this poem is a chilling and intense piece of writing that leaves a lasting impression. Keep up the great work and continue to experiment with different techniques to further enhance your poetic voice.
