Excalibur street

                Excalibur street.

I Climbed from the wreckage
That is my cardboard kingdom
Pissed on the pavement
Bowed and waved a passerby on

Scratched my old ass a little to hard
I Dreamed of a bathhouse
Clean towels and endless hot water
Maybe a nice clean soft cotton shirt

I ploughed through the bins
Behind my favoured bakery
There I struck gold
With a day old loaf of Turkish

Strolled through the street
My head held high
With my stale old winnings
To me a hearty start
And an early first innings

I'm somewhat of a rough sleeper
I share the street with riff and raff
I Keep company with the reaper
And the old street sweeper.

I'm royalty you know in these parts
My home a dogeared paper mashie castle
My loyal reprobate subjects
Throw me scraps from these streets
They land at my dirty old feet

This old cringe worthy king
May be somewhat complete
Or a rap yet to beat
If you should be looking for me
You'll find me on Excalibur street

Not much to tell. Like every human being I have stories to tell. Hopefully they help people appreciate this wonderful life we are gifted and hopefully the words I write can be helpful to people and bring a measure of peace to their lives. That's what I'm aiming for. Maybe I'll find fame and fortune along the way. Ha ha ha. more…

I loved this poem, and felt like I was seeing through a homeless person's eyes and felt the imagery and emotions. It was simple and yet his message is very clear and outspoken, this is me and where you can find me in my short travels. A beautiful poem!
