Ballygahan

A long time ago in Ballygahan,
That’s where my life began,
Born to parents who were so austere,
The Fourth Commandment, they did revere,
Products of a social order, now gone by,
And lived that way until they both did die.
The homestead now unkempt and grown wild,
Alive to me still, in my memory as a child.
To Ballygahan, I never again will go,
Remembering as it was from an old photo.
My parents, are long since dead and gone,
The children now scattered and moved on.
