A POET'S THEOLOGY

A POET'S THEOLOGY

Yes you're more educated than me
I don't have a theology degree
Or the fancy words, turn of phrase
But I will seek the Lord all my days

You talk about the Hebrew root
Pull out the Greek like a parachute
You know all the mysteries of theology
But I shrug, it's all Greek to me

You drone about how it doesn't mean
The text there that we've all seen
And brother all that knowledge,well
I'm afraid it'll take you straight to Hell

I know you've got it all in your head
If it's not in your heart, well, you're dead
Cause Jesus said it's Him we're to seek
And this poet's just a Jesus Freak

Come to the well, of Living Water
Watch your steps, don't ya falter
Seek the Lord while He can be found
Lift praise to God, a joyful sound

Cause really it's not that complex
Keep His Words in correct context
We love Him because He first loved us
Humble yourself before Jesus

Choose you this day, where you stand
This Poet will stand firmly in His Hand
I will give to Christ, all of me
That my friend, is a Poet's theology
Amen

About this poem

27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord. ” 2 Corinthians 1:27-31
