LEAVE BEHIND

Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)

LEAVE BEHIND

My past before me, can't forget
The standard You made, I haven't met
Though I'm sinful, you forgave me yet
So I am here, Lord, Salvation find
When I leave my whole past behind

Whom You set free, is free indeed
And by Grace You've met my every need
Faith is growing from a mustard's seed
Every day God, You blow my mind
As I leave all my cares far behind

Seek Your Kingdom forever first
On my best days and at my worst
Living Water slacks every thirst
I see now, Jesus, I was so blind
Before I left my darkness behind

I've walked and at times I fell
I heard the devil laugh, and lost yell
Your Love, Lord, keeps me in the vale
And long though the road may wind
Each step I leave my pain behind

I keep the hill, Your Cross before
Eyes on You as I open Heaven's door
I step across, with You ever more
No word can describe the joy we find
The Cross before, leave the world behind

Cross before me, world behind…
AMEN

About this poem

26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father. John 16:26-28
